Hi! Thank you :) SO glad you enjoy it! I don’t mind sharing. My apartment is on the Upper East Side, near Central park, and was built in the early 1900’s (maybe late 1800’s). It’s above a retail store on 3rd Avenue, and is actually a big apartment for Manhattan (2 bedrooms, 1 bath, kitchen, dining, living room, closets, storage, and a rooftop balcony). My roommate and I pay about $1,000 each a month for our apartment. That’s considered a “good deal” here in the city (ridiculous, I know), and is considered to be on the cheaper side for Manhattan. I believe the average person who rents (and who has a roommate) pays around $800-1200 a month. Moving here takes a lot of time, research, effort and money. Apartments are not easy to find (craigslist is the easiest way to find one), and when you do find one - you’ll have to fork over first months rent, a pricey security deposit (usually the same price as rent), and possibly last months rent or a damage deposit. It’s takes about $2,000-3,000 to secure a place initially. Then plan on at least $1,000 a month rent if you have a roommate. Also keep in mind - food, transit, and fun here is pricey, and taxes are ridiculous. It’s an expensive city to live in, not ideal for my lifestyle, but it’s a great place to experience :) I also have to add one last piece of advice - don’t lock yourself into a year lease on your first apartment. You might find yourself wanting to move to a new area, a new apartment, or a new city (like me) after 6 months. Good luck with everything!
